The Council did approve 2021 Tobacco License renewals for 7 establishments.
The Council held a Public Meeting for the 2021 Final Budget and Tax Levy, which City Administrator Rose Beverly explained further in detail concerning the final numbers.
The City of Aitkin Total Tax Levy for 2021 is $1,370,276.00 at an increase of 14.73% over 2020, which was approved by the Council. Mayor Gary Tibbitts spoke on recent success stories of improvements in the Lakes Area and the Iron Range.

That amendment was approved as was Amending the Official Zoning Map of “City of Aitkin Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance” with a $400 fee. The Council made the determination of following the same guidelines as previously done earlier during the COVID-19 Pandemic for the Liquor License Fee Reduction for Aitkin City Businesses, which was in the area of a 20-25 percent refund.
The Aitkin City Council is next scheduled to meet on Monday, December 21st from the Aitkin Public Library Community Room.
