Tips to Prevent Package Theft this Holiday Season

Ada, MN — The holiday season is the busiest time of year for package carriers as people are shopping online for gifts for their loved ones, and this year even more than ever as more people are shopping online out of safety during the pandemic. But are you taking the right steps to make sure your valuable purchases and gifts are secure and safe from theft? Being proactive is one of the biggest keys according to Doug Parisi of SafeDefend. Parisi says we spend so much time focusing on the purchase that we tend to forget about how its going to get where it needs to go or when it’s going to get there.
Parisi notes there’s a number of things you can do to be proactive and ensure your package is safe, including to require a signature, reach out to a neighbor, or leave special instructions when you order.
Theft crimes are most commonly committed when it’s convenient, which is why law enforcement tells you to lock your doors when you’re not home and don’t leave valuables in plain sight in your car. Parisi says the same goes for package theft: Don’t make it is easy or convenient for them to steal your package.
