Lakes Area Music Festival to host first Winter Series

(Aitkin, MN) — The Lakes Area Music Festival this Summer did miss their in-person concerts and workshops but see great success by going digital which will translate with their first Winter Series Concert coming up on Saturday, December 5th.
The concert will be at 7:30pm on the 5th entitled “Love Letters” features recitals from the 18th century to today from Festival artistic directors John Taylor Ward and Scott Lykins.
The program will also include the U.S. premier of Gerald Berry’s Beethoven, Samuel Coleridge Taylor’s Songs of Sun and Shade, the world premiere of “Sometimes” by New York-based composer Susan Kander, and other composers.
The Lakes Area Music Festival will also be offering two free educational opportunities to accompany Love Letters. On November 28th at 10am, John Taylor Ward will be joined by Clara Osowski for a discussion of the history of relevance of art song repertoire. December 3rd at 10am will be Scott Lykins and Ward for an informal Q&A session.
