Aitkin City Council review City Improvement updates, Fish House Parade news at Nov. 16th Meeting

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin City Council returned Monday night for City Improvement Project updates and heard news of the Aitkin Fish House Parade from the Community Room of the Aitkin Public Library.
The Council approved a contract for Ritter Snow Removal to handle snow removal of the City of Aitkin buildings and a proclamation for January 22-30 as City of Aitkin School Choice Week.
City Administrator Rose Beverly spoke before the Council on Contractor changes under the City Improvement Project.
Street Commissioner Bob Nicko went into more detail about the City’s role with turf restoration with the hockey dasher board installation.
The Council approved the Contractor’s Change Order #3 of $297,736 and Pay Request #2 in the amount of $119,624.19. A motion to install handicap accessible curbs on the Southwest and Northeast curbs at the intersection of 3rd Street SE and 2nd Avenue SE was tabled until the Spring upon further review by the Council.
Council member and Aitkin Area Chamber of Commerce Board member Leeann Moriarity brought the breaking news of the day concerning the Aitkin Fish House Parade for 2020.
Official word of the Reversed Fish House Parade will be coming following the Aitkin Area Chamber of Commerce Board meeting on Tuesday. Approval of a new Lease with Riverside Pub was also given, also some revisions.
The Council then went into Closed Session for internal affairs related to law enforcement misconduct, which they made the determination to place the individual under non-disciplinary leave for the individual pending an Administrative investigation.
