Nisswa Mayor-Elect John Ryan Talks Goals, Addresses Allegations from Current Mayor Against City Police
The city of Nisswa has chosen a new mayor.
Following the controversies that plagued incumbent Fred Heidmann – from defending racist comments made by a Forestview teacher on social media to his arrest following an altercation with Nisswa police to finally accusing city police of misconduct and the council of negligence – the city has chosen to take the direction of different leadership in the form of councilmember John Ryan, who won 85.4% of the vote compared to Heidmann’s 13.3%. We spoke with Ryan about what to expect with his term and what his thoughts were on the events that have transpired under Heidmann.
Ryan began by explaining why he decided to run for Mayor.
When asked about the goals he had set for himself during his term, Ryan stressed the importance of getting the council on the same page and unifying to serve the city.
We then asked Ryan for his comments on Heidmann’s allegations, which include sexual misconduct and corruption by city police.
Finally, Ryan offered his message to residents to the city of Nisswa regarding what to expect from him in the wake of Heidmann’s tenure.
