Cuyuna Country SRA expanding with new, remotes trails

(Crosby, MN) — More improvements and expansions are taking place in the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area near Crosby for mountain bike trails that will be ready to ride this Spring. We had the chance to speak with Cuyuna Country SRA Supervisor Jonah Moline (MO-leen) about the expansion in the northern portion of the Mahnomen Unit.
The remote feel of the trails will allow riders, whether beginners or expert riders, to commune with nature with little human impact. Moline says trails will transition throughout the expansion.
For this project to happen, State bond funds were granted in 2017 which will help build more trails up to 40 miles in addition to the 8-mile paved Cuyuna Lakes State Trail.
The timeline for completion of the expansion is Late Spring, Early Summer of 2021. For project updates or more information on the Cuyuna Country SRA, visit the DNR’s website or call the DNR Information Center at 888-646-6367 from 8am-6pm Monday-Friday, or between 8am-4:30pm Saturday.
