Fergus Falls, MN — Whether its heating your home and lighting your home, the winter season certainly can add up on the pocketbook. Otter Tail Power Company is encouraging people to be as efficient as possible this winter to help save you money and reduce our nation’s demand for the resources needed to make energy. In regards to heating your home, one of the best ways you can reduce heating costs is to be smart about how you control your thermostat, according to Roger Garton, Senior Commercial and Industrial Representative with Otter Tail Power Company.
Garton also adds that you can save money by finding ways to keep that heat you are paying for from escaping your home.
In addition to heating your home more, people are also using their lights more in the winter as it gets darker much quicker. Garton says upgrading your home to LEDs is a smart and efficient way to keep costs down.
And home and business owners who make the switch to LED lighting should see a relatively quick return on investment and will see a savings on the back end as well.
