Ada, MN — The Norman County Salvation Army is continuing to serve families in need throughout the county by providing utility and rental assistance, backpacks and school supplies, food, and Christmas gifts through their Angel Tree Program. The Angel Tree Program, which the deadline to apply for is October 26th, is designed to raise in-kind gifts to assist families who are in crisis as a result of medical issues, unemployment, homelessness, medical issues, or other difficult circumstances and who otherwise wouldn’t have the resources to celebrate Christmas, according to Aimee Eggen of the Norman County Salvation Army.
The Angel Tree Program and all the other services the Salvation Army offers are funded from donations collected through their Red Kettle Campaign. Local Salvation Army Representative Cody Kill says while you may not see people ringing bells this year, you will see the red kettles out at local businesses sooner than usual.
The Norman County Salvation Army is hoping to raise at least $6,000 this Holiday season. Kill says every donation will be of upmost importance this year as they are expecting a high demand in assistance requests throughout the area soon.
