Halstad, MN — The Halstad City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, October 19th. At the meeting the council discussed the World’s Largest Sugar Beet. The Halstad Business League spearheaded that project, but now that its complete they wanted to transfer maintenance of the park back to the city of Halstad, according to Mayor Lori Delong.
The council also had discussions on sump pump discharge as Halstad Utilities has had a number of concerns with property owners discharging directly into the sanitary sewer system over the summer. Mayor Delong says their public works crews are trying to find the sources for the extra water.
And the debate on the Halstad City Council continues over whether or not the city should take ownership of the former Norman County West High School Building. Delong says they have a special meeting planned for next week, but they need to decide soon as the school likely won’t be heating the building this winter.
Again, that special meeting is planned for Monday, October 26th at 6:30pm at the Halstad LRC.
