Brainerd Mayor Talks Interim Public Works Dept., CARES Act Round 2 from October 19 Council Meeting
The city of Brainerd held a regular council meeting on Monday, October 19, so we spoke with Mayor Dave Badeaux about the things that were discussed.
Badeaux said there was some miscellaneous end-of-the-year business that was settled, such as some road improvement assessments.
Another big agenda item was the CARES Act. Last week, Crow Wing County announced that there would be another round of CARES Act funding with some of the leftover money from the first round earlier this year, and Badeaux talked about what the city of Brainerd’s role would be in the procedures related to that.
The deadline to apply for this round of CARES Act funding is set at the end of the week, October 23, for eligible businesses.
Finally, another central agenda item Badeaux talked about was the city’s approval of an interim public works department to function as a sort of replacement for the parks and recreation department upon the retirement of the latter department’s director, Tony Sailer, which will become official in December.
We thank Mayor Badeaux for his time. The city of Brainerd will have its next regular council meeting on November 2. Our full interview with Badeaux can be found here:
