Fertile, MN — The Fertile City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, October 12th. At the meeting they continued discussions about their CARES Act Grant Program for Small Businesses. The council had originally intended to direct most of their CARES funding towards the city owned nursing home, but after a number of businesses voiced their concerns the city is now moving forward with offering a CARES grant. Fertile City Administrator Lisa Liden says they have $30,000 earmarked for the small business grants.
Applications for the Fertile CARES Grant are currently available on the city website. The deadline to apply is October 19th.
The Fertile City Council also discussed a possible lane or road closure behind the school to reduce traffic. Administrator Liden says they moved forward with closing the entire street during the loading and unloading times.
Under the Airport Committee report, Liden says the council got an update on some of the projects that are ongoing.
And the council also heard from a Fertile resident who was requesting a variance for the garage they were building, which Liden notes doesn’t quite match up with city code.
The Fertile City Council also approved 2021 Liquor Licenses.
