Aitkin County Board reviews 2019 Audit, discusses ATV ordinance on Tuesday

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners returned to the Government Center Board Room for their first meeting for the month of October on Tuesday.
Commissioners approved donations of $500 to Veterans Services from the Dale E Wayrynen American Legion in McGregor and $100 to the Sentence to Serve program, an Energy Easement to Enbridge on Aitkin County managed lands, a final contract payment to Lot Pros, Inc of Fergus Falls for crack sealing on Aitkin County Roads, and Natural Resources Advisory Committee support to Long Lake Conservation Center.
Kristen Houle and Doug Host from CliftonAllenLarson LLP presented to the Board on the 2019 Audit of County’s financial statements.
County Engineer John Welle came before the Board to discuss Trunk Highway Detours.
Formal agreements will be presented for projects in coming months ranging from road resurfacing, box culvert replacement, and shoulder resurfacing for 2021. Economic Development and Forest Industry Coordinator Ross Wagner proposed a revision to the County ATV ordinance.
Further discussion on the topic of allowing ATVs on County roads will be held at the November 10th meeting. Nelson Roofing of Hibbing was awarded the Health & Human Services Roof Replacement after the County received their bid of $111,365.
Aitkin County Administrator Jessica Seibert, for her updates, featured the opening of more sections of the Government Center.
The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners is next scheduled to meet from the Government Center Board Room on Tuesday, October 27th beginning at 9am. The Board will also have their monthly meeting with Health & Human Services that day.
