Tax-Aide volunteers available to help taxpayers file for property tax refunds
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers will be available in Baxter in July to help taxpayers file for property tax refunds.
Appointments are required. Call 218-855- 8052 and ask for a tax appointment. Appointments are available between 9 a.m. and
12:30 p.m. for July 13, July 21 and July 27. All appointments are at the old Vanity store location in the Westgate Mall.
Masks are required.
To file for a 2020 property, the 2020 income tax return and 2021 property tax statements are needed. To file for a 2019 property,
the 2019 income tax return and 2020 property tax statements are needed.
For homeowners who already had their income tax return done by local Tax-Aide volunteers and only need to file a property tax
return, they can make an appointment for any of the three dates. However, it is advantageous to make an appointment for July 21
because homeowner property tax returns will be prepared in advance. In some cases, Tax-Aide volunteers may need to call
homeowners for additional information.
Tax-Aide volunteers may call from their personal phone or from a Massachusetts number, 617-675-4444.
Homeowners should not make an appointment for July 21 if they won’t answer this number or return messages since their return
won’t be completed. Homeowners can confirm they are speaking with a Tax-Aide volunteer by asking the volunteer to state the last
four digits of the homeowner’s Social Security number.
Homeowners should bring the following to their appointment: property tax statements, nontaxable income type and amount and
income types and amounts for other non-dependent adults living with them.
On July 13 and July 27, income tax returns as well as rent and homeowner property tax returns will be prepared.
Unless an income tax return has already been done by local Tax-Aide volunteers, taxpayers must pick up an intake packet at the
Vanity store in the Westgate Mall and complete the intake form before their appointment. Instructions in the intake packet will
explain what documents are needed.
