Nicaragua Missions Team Shoe Drive
The Nicaragua Missions Team from Heritage Church, Baxter, in conjunction with Funds2Orgs, is collecting gently used and new shoes from Oct. 18 to Dec. 17.
Shoes can be used, infant to adult, men and women’s, high heels, boots, dance, tennis shoes, snow boots, flip-flops. No hockey or ice skates or roller blades. Shoes must be in pairs.
Funds2Orgs buys and repurposes the shoes, then sells them to micro-entrepreneurs in third world countries which allows people to create both businesses and jobs for people in local communities.
The mission team is planning its ninth trip to Nicaragua in late February 2021. The focus for the upcoming trip involves a building project (typically a family home), services for women, men, and children, clothing distribution, food and toiletry distribution and providing Christian education materials and Bibles.
The team participates under the umbrella organization of the Nicaragua Resource Network.
Shoes can be dropped off at Heritage Church, 13242 Berrywood Dr., Baxter, (Monday through Thursday); at Hirshfields, 7447 Clearwater Rd., Baxter, (Monday through Saturday); or at Super One in Baxter (every day).
