2021 Strength and Honor Lift-a-Thon
This year the Lift-a-Thon will be held Wednesday, July 28 and Thursday, July 29 from 6 pm to 9:30 pm. The American Legion Post 86 will have brats available for purchase.
The Strength and Honor Lift-a-Thon is a culmination of our Summer Strength, Speed and Agility program. The Strength and Honor Lift-a-Thon is a competition which allows our athletes in grades 9 through 12, to show themselves and the community how they have grown physically over those five weeks while also giving back to the community.
As with all athletics, the Strength, Speed, and Agility program provides young people the opportunity to learn some valuable life lessons. The importance of sacrifice, gratitude, and giving back are the key life lessons emphasized as athletes prepare for the Lift-a-Thon. The coaching staff presents inspirational messages about our service men and women throughout the summer. These messages are designed to provide a deeper understanding of the true sacrifices made by members of the military as well as the sacrifices their families make. This is why the Lift-a-Thon is entitled “Strength and Honor.” “Strength” is developed in the weight room, while “Honor” refers to the Honor that our service men and women deserve.
This year we WILL BE ABLE to have our Lift-a-Thon OPEN to parents and the public. This year, during the final week of Summer Strength, Speed and Agility, the athletes will have the opportunity to max out in bench, squat and power clean and determine their MPPO (Most Pounds Per Ounce – total weight lifted divided by their body weight).
We will also be back to our normal fundraising this year. Any funds raised this year, will be going to the American Legion Post 86 to be used to help Veterans in the Aitkin area. We ARE encouraging our athletes to go door to door. We are encouraging our athletes to reach out to potential donors through phone calls and email. We are encouraging our athletes to reach out to area businesses also.
If you would like to DONATE TO the Lift-a-Thon and have not been contacted by a participant, please contact Stacy Westerlund at TwoOne8-EightFiveOne-7FourEightTwo.
Thank you for supporting your athletes and this program.
