2021-2022 Voice of Democracy Competition

Students in grades 9 – 12 can/should compete in the annual VFW Voice of Democracy competition.  Write and voice a 3 to 5 minute essay.  

There are $154,000 in prizes to be given nationally by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. 

The theme: “America: Where do we go from here?” 
Deadline for submission is October 31, 2021. 


Erin Stoeckig of Rochester, MN, was the 1st place national winner for 2020-2021.  She won a $30,000 scholarship. 

It all starts at the local level where prizes are $200, $250 and $300.  Then on to district, state and national.  The Brainerd VFW will accept entries from students living within 50 miles of Brainerd.
