Class AA Consolation Final: #20 Pequot Lakes vs. #3 Minnehaha Academy
The Redhawks of Minnehaha Academy were too much for the Patriots as Pequot Lakes fell in the boys’ Class AA Consolation Final at Concordia-St. Paul.
Minnehaha Academy shot well throughout the whole game, keeping the Patriots from having any true comeback attempts once they fell behind.
Pequot Lakes had early turnover trouble that helped the Redhawks put together an 11-2 run to take a 19-8 lead just over five minutes into the game. The Patriots cut the lead to seven at 24-17, but Minnehaha scored the next eight points and would have a double-digit lead the remainder of the game.
It was 42-25 at the break, as Minnehaha shot 51% in the half compared to just 33% for Pequot Lakes.
The Patriots battled in the second half, but the Redhawks were able to keep extending the lead on their way to the 23-point win.
Pequot Lakes finishes the season at 25-8, playing in their first boy’s state basketball tournament since 2007. Minnehaha Academy ends the year at 19-11. The Patriots will graduate seven seniors off the team.
