Pequot Lakes at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton
It was clear and cold for the final night of the 2020 football season. Much like a majority of the season, it had an odd feeling, but the excitement was high as Pequot Lakes faced off against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felten.
Pequot Lakes forced a DGF punt on the opening possession, but the punt hit one of the Patriots’ blockers and the Rebels recovered. They used the second chance to drive 23 yards and punch one in from a yard out with senior fullback Justin Wang to go up 8-0 with the conversion.
That would be all the Rebels needed as the Patriots offense was shut out of the end zone. The Patriots threatened a couple times deep into DGF territory, but couldn’t finish it with the score.
Wang broke loose for a 45-yard touchdown in the second quarter, and DGF led 15-0 at the break. After a scoreless third quarter, the Rebels connected on two long passes for scores in the fourth quarter to put the game away. The second td throw coming one play after the third Patriots turnover of the game.
The Patriots finish the season at 4-3 and will graduate 17 seniors from the team. In a tremendous showing of respect, sportsmanship and brotherhood, every player and coach gathered for a knee, message, and prayer after the game (our featured image). DGF finished the season 6-0.
