International Falls Broncos at Section 7AA Golf
Day 2 of the Section 7AA golf tournament was played on Tuesday. On the girls side, Kelby Anderson started the day just out of a spot to qualify for the state tournament but she battled through with a 97 for a two-day total of 199. That was good enough for 9th place which grabbed the final individual spot for the state golf tournament which takes place on June 15th and 16th in Jordan. Keirra Aasen shot a 120 to finish in a tie for 14th place.
The boys team was in a 3rd place after Day 1 a looking to move up on the leaders which were Cloquet and Duluth Marshall. The Falls was led once again by Myles Mason as he shot an 86 for a two day total of 167 which place Mason in 11th overall and one spot out of qualifying for the state meet. Other scores for the Broncos, Nick Tanner 91 and tied for 16th, Mitchell Nemec 94, Noah Shikowsky 99, Chase Hoopman 107, and Ryan Hedlund 112. The boys shot a 370 on Tuesday and a 719 as a team over the 2-day tournament.
Kelby Anderson qualified for the state golf meet on Tuesday, and head coach Tony Casareto talks about the conversation the coaches and Kelby had going into Tuesday’s Day 2.
On the boys side, I asked Coach Casareto if there were some tense moments after the round as Myles Mason just missed making state.
The state golf meet is on June 15th and 16th in Jordan.
