Hillsboro/Central Valley at Valley City (Football)  KRJB 106.5 FM

Turnovers proved costly for Hillsboro-Centrall Valley as they dropped their second game of the season falling 14-12 to Valley City Saturday afternoon. The Burros committed six turnovers, five fumbles and an interception, three in each half. Throughout the first half the Hi-Liner offensive line was winning the battle in the trenches allowing the offense to methodically drive down the field. Valley City got on the board first midway through the Second Quarter when Peyton Zaun got open down the seem for a 36 yard touchdown reception. The Hi-Liners extended their lead before the half when the offensive line again won the battle at the line of scrimmage and Kael Grebel plunged in from a yard out on the QB sneak to make it 14-0. The Burros responded in the second half forcing a stop on the opening drive followed by a long touchdown drive capped off by a Sam Preston six yard touchdown run, the PAT was no good and the score was 14-8. It would stay that way until the games final minute when Sam Preston would rush for his second touchdown of the game. The ensuing two-point conversation was unsuccessful and VC held on to the lead 14-12. On the following kickoff HCV recovered to give the Burros one final chance. They were able to get inside the 25 but the final Hail Mary pass was batted down and Valley City held on for their third victory of the season. Hillsboro-Central Valley falls to 7-2 on the season and will host Watford City next Saturday afternoon in the first round of the AA Playoffs. Valley City will finish out the regular season 3-4 having won their final two games of the season.
