In a rematch of last years Section 8A championship game the East Grand Forks Sacred Heart Eagles defeated the Fosston Greyhounds 7-5 at Bemidji State University on Friday night. Cullen Rohrich hit a two run homer in the second inning as Sacred Heart scored three runs to take a 3-0 lead. That lead would hold until the bottom of the fourth inning when Fosston scored two runs to draw to within 3-2. Tommy Simonson doubled to drive in Aaron Norland and then Aiden Wolfe scored on an error to draw the Greyhounds to within one run at 3-2. The Eagles got those two runs back when they scored twice in the top of the fifth to take a 5-2 lead. Sacred Heart scored two more runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7-2 lead but the Greyhounds made it interesting when they scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh and left two runners on base when the game ended. Aaron Norland went 3 for 4 at the plate for Fosston as the Greyhounds fall to 6-1. Sam Gapp pitched 6 and 2/3 innings to pick up the win on the mound for Sacred Heart. Gapp struck out eight batters and walked only two as the Eagles improve to 7-1. The only loss for Sacred Heart has come against Thompson (ND). Gapp went two for three at the plate for Sacred Heart with Ethan Arntson also picking up two hits for the Eagles. Both teams are in action on Saturday, May 14th with Fosston at West Marshall and Sacred Heart playing Fertile-Beltrami and Kittson County Central in a triangular at Fertile.
