Cromwell-Wright at McGregor

Early turnovers spelt the doom for McGregor Mercuries in their 44-14 loss to the Cromwell-Wright/Floodwood Cardinals Thursday Afternoon.
McGregor came out with 3 fumbles on their first 3 offensive drives but only trailed 15-0 after the 1st quarter with Jaeger Goranson passing for a 15-yard touchdown to Zevvus Smith and a 1-yard run. The Mercs got as close as 15-8 with Willie Glunz’ 1-yard touchdown run with 9:28 left in the half. The Cardinals added a pair of scores before the half with Goranson adding a 3-yard run and Ethan Shelton scampered in from 2 yards out to lead 30-8 at halftime.
The second half was all Cardinals as they piled on touchdowns with Smith adding a 1-yard scoring run in the 3rd and Goranson ran in another from 2-yards out. McGregor’s offense got a shot in the arm late in the 4th with Ethan Bohn’s 75-yard touchdown reception from Willie Glunz, setting the final score at 44-14.
Cromwell-Wright/Floodwood is 2-0 with a home match-up with Onamia on October 23rd. McGregor falls to 0-2 with a road game against Carlton/Wrenshall on Oct. 23rd, which will be broadcasted on “Real Country” KKIN-FM 94.3.
