Hillsboro, ND -- Natural gas looks to be expanding to the Hillsboro area! Dakota Natural Gas has agreed to move forward with a more than $10 million investment to serve the Hillsboro and Mayville areas with a natural gas offering. Hillsboro Commission President Terry Sando says they’ve had verbal commitments from enough clients to make it work, so they now begin with the permitting process.
Sando anticipates some public hearings in the future for Hillsboro community members looking to learn more about the natural gas offering.
Prior to last week’s Hillsboro Commission meeting, they held a public hearing in regards to the Riverwalk Addition annexation into the city. President Sando says they had a few comments and concerns, but the city commission plans to move forward with the annexation process.
The City of Hillsboro had a request for a building permit and property tax exemption, but Sando says because the individual already started the construction, the commission denied the exemption.
And at last week’s Hillsboro City Commission meeting, they approved paying for half of an energy rate study from Missouri River Energy Services.
The Hillsboro City Commission meets next on Monday, March 2nd.
