Ada, MN -- Another monumental step forward for the city of Ada in their quest to regain an Events Center for the community. The Ada Area Promotions committee hit the trigger point in their fundraising efforts for the city to move forward with purchasing the old Tubbys Tavern building. The current fundraising tally is at $254,900 as of Thursday evening, with the trigger point being $250,000. The Ada City Council held a special meeting Thursday and at the meeting approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of the Tubby’s building. Ada Mayor Todd Sawrey says reaching that trigger point was a big moment for the city that came faster than he expected.
Also at the special meeting, the city opened bids from contractors for work to be done on both the Events Center and recently purchased Kuball building. Bids were awarded to Skansgaard Construction for floor and bathroom renovations at the Events Center, Norman County Heating and Cooling was awarded bids for HVAC work at the Events Center, Holm Plumbing was awarded the Events Center water heater bid, and Herzog Roofing was given the bid for the roof replacement at both the Events Center and Kuball building. Electric work bids were reissued and there were no bids for siding. Mayor Sawrey talks about the next steps moving forward with the Events Center.
Mayor Sawrey adds that although he’s excited to see this project moving forward, they still need to continue fundraising to go through with all the needed repairs and renovations.
The Ada City Council is scheduled to meet next on February 6th.
