Mahnomen, MN --- The Mahnomen City Council held their regular monthly meeting last Monday night at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church basement. At the meeting, they officially approved the job description for the new Code Enforcement Officer Position. Mahnomen City Administrator Mitch Berg says it will be a part-time position in charge of handling blight and code violation issues as they arrive.
The council also approved last week to give their liquor store manager hazard pay like they have for other city employees during the pandemic as well, according to Berg.
The council also discussed a recent water main break. Administrator Berg says the break caused some serious issues due to the location and the amount of water it spilled.
Berg also stated that the Capital Improvement Project so far is going quite well this summer.
The Mahnomen City Council also approved a resolution to expend city CARES funding to support the Mahnomen Health Center and approved a quote to conduct an appraisal to acquire a downtown building for the proposed fire hall remodel.
