R&J Agriculture Corner – National Sunflower Association Research Forum

The National Sunflower Association held their 44th Research Forum in Fargo with producers from all over the country participating in person and online. The NSA was able to bring information from North Dakota State University and South Dakota State University professors and extension experts on the issues impacting sunflowers.

Dr. Janet Knodel, NDSU Extension Entomology, talked about how red sunflower seed weevils continue to be the biggest problem impacting the industry.

Ryan Buetow, NDSU Extension Cropping Systems Specialist, talked about the 2021 National Sunflower Production Survey Yield and Management Practices. This included the impact from weevils, disease, drought, and soil makeup.

The NSA Research Forum was the kick off meeting to the R&J Broadcasting Winter Meeting Tour, brought to you by Bayer Crop Science, science for a better life.
