Fish House Guide Encourages Ice Campers to be Better Prepared
Minnesota — As fun, easy, and convenient ice fishing can be in a wheel house, a weekend trip to the frozen lake can quickly turn into a miserable experience if you’re not prepared. During this week’s R & J Outdoors Show, Thad Lambert, who owns and rents a number of wheel houses through RLK Guide Service, shared some helpful tips and reminders for ice anglers to keep in mind before heading out on their ice camping expedition with friends and family.
In addition to staying warm and safe on the lake, it’s important to be proactive in making sure you can get off the lake. Lambert recommends jumper packs and traction devices as backups.
A backup heat source is another must. A small propane or electric heater can be enough to get you through the night in the event your furnace quits working.
