Aitkin County Board of Commissioners adjusts 2022 Wage Scale, receives Construction update

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday reviewed Department resolutions while looking into grant opportunities for Environmental Services during their meeting from the Government Center Board Room.

The Board started the regular meeting by approving Fire Protection Contracts for the Town of Ball Bluff and the City of McGrath, Medical Examiner Contract, the Minor Language Change to the Aitkin County Assembly Ordinance, Audit Engagement Letter and GASB 87 Lease Services, and Application for GIA Maintenance Funding.

Human Resources Director Bobbie Danielson spoke to the Commissioners on the 2022 Wage Scale and Employer Health Insurance Contributions.

The Scales and Contributions were approved by the Board, as well as Sunset Lifelock Identity Theft employer premium, PTO accrual schedule to match union settlements, and various updates to the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual.

County Assessor Mike Dangers, in his update to the Board, noted on placing a Property Tax Abatement Policy for Aitkin County.

The Policy will be reviewed by Commissioners, while the Property Tax Abatement Resolution was tabled until review by the County Attorney. The resolution would give the County Auditor final abatement approval authority.

Environmental Services Director Andrew Carlstrom spoke to the Board on the signature change for Natural Resources Block Grant. 

The resolution was approved as well as setting a Public Hearing for amending the Aitkin County Zoning Ordinance and eliminating captive cervid farms for January 11th at 10am. 

Commissioners also heard from BKV Group and contegrity Group on outstanding construction items for the Government Center project.

The Board moved ahead with the transfer resolution to close out the Fund 14 Government Center account.

The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners will meet again on Tuesday, December 14th from the Government Center Board Room.
