Hawley School Sees Big Increase in COVID this Week
Hawley, MN — The COVID-19 situation is intensifying at the Hawley School District, which is mirrored by many other districts in the state currently as well. Currently there are nearly two dozen active positive cases each in both the elementary and high school, along with a handful of staff as well, according to Elementary Principal Chris Ellingson.
As of Friday, there were 23 active cases in the elementary, 23 in the high school, and 3 in the faculty. Altogether, 85 people were in quarantine. Ellingson notes that they continue to mix in mitigation measures to do their best to prevent spread.
Students will get a short break this week with the Thanksgiving holiday, which Ellingson says could either help their situation or maybe make it worse. Either way he hopes students and families enjoy their time together and come out if it healthy.
