Crow Wing County Board Discusses Carolyn Lane Assessment and More in October 12 Meeting
(BRAINERD, MN) — On Tuesday, the Crow Wing County Board held its first regular meeting of the month of October.
It was a relatively short meeting, with the bulk of the time being spent in a public hearing discussing an assessment on Carolyn Lane and the possibility of paving the road.
One of the four residents in opposition to the assessment spoke on why he thought the proposal was unfair, citing a lack of equity in the benefits from it despite each resident paying equal amounts.
Commissioner Paul Koering responded to the individual by suggesting there is no real way of “equalizing” a proposal such as this one.
One of the seventeen residents in favor of the assessment offered some additional points of reasoning to support the assessment.
Ultimately, the board unanimously approved the assessment after the public hearing.
Much of the rest of the time saw the board hearing a quarterly update from Erik Flowers from county veteran’s services, who offered mostly encouraging news about veteran engagement.
