Ada-Borup-West Looking to Stomp Out Bullying
Ada, MN — The month of October is World Bullying Prevention Month and during this month, schools such as Ada-Borup-West are standing up in solidarity to stop bullying and cyberbullying. On Wednesday, students at the Ada-Borup-West Elementary wore blue, the color for the Stomp Out Bullying Campaign, and next Wednesday will wear orange to show unity. But preventing bullying isn’t just a one month out of the year campaign. Ada-Borup-West Elementary Principal Bree Triplett says it’s a year-round effort of providing education that bullying is not ok.
According to StompOutBullying.org, the color blue is chosen as their theme because it brings peace in many different and diverse cultures. It also conveys importance and confidence. The 2019 Indicators of School Safety and Crime report shows that about 20% of students age 12-18 reported being bullied during the school and 15% reported being bullied online or via text.
