Ada, MN — R & J Broadcasting Incorporated owner Jim Birkemeyer will have his legacy cemented in history this weekend as he’s inducted into the first class of the Ada-Borup-West Hall of Fame! Birkemeyer, or “Birk” as he’s more commonly known, began his broadcasting career in 1981, but began his legacy as the voice for Ada-Borup-West when purchased the KRJB radio station in Ada in 1987. Since then, Birkemeyer and his booming voice has been a part of numerous state title runs, not to mention his endless support of school and community events and accomplishments. In an interview with Ada-Borup-West Activities Director Kenley Wahlin, Jim highlighted some of his favorite moments throughout his broadcasting career with the Ada-Borup-West school.

Birkemeyer is actually a member of the Ada-Borup-West Hall of Fame committee, but secretly without his knowledge the committee voted to induct him into the first ever class. Jim says he has a lot to be proud of throughout his career, but to be elected amongst his peer may be one of his crowning achievements.

Congratulations to R & J Broadcasting Incorporated’s Jim Birkemeyer on his induction into the Ada-Borup-West Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place this Saturday at 1pm at the Ada-Borup-West School and can be viewed online at www.yourliveevent.com. Read Jim’s full bio below:

“Jim Birkemeyer began his radio broadcasting career in the summer of 1981.  He worked at stations in ND and MN where he signed on and was the Sports Director and Sales Representative.   In the summer of 1987, the radio station in Ada was off the air and up for sale.  Jim jumped at the opportunity to get into radio ownership.  He signed on KRJB Radio the morning of October 1, 1987.  Jim’s focus for radio has always been and still remains the local communities, providing the local news, information, weather, and sports coverage that listeners want to hear.  In the almost 34 years of KRJB being on the air, Jim, or more notably “Birk”, has been an on-air or press booth presence at Ada-Borup and West for too many to count games, tournaments, state tournaments, state FFA & FCCLA, playground fundraisers, Christmas with the Kids, Coaches Corners, Booster Club events, interviews, and many more events.”
