(Crosby, MN) — Being gone for 2020 did not slow down the great cause for Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s 5th annual Because of Brandon event in Crosby back in late July.
The event that raises funds to send area youth to diabetes camps, for patient travel expenses and educational events raised $60,444. The sponsorships and cash donations from this year’s festivities totaled $18,492 while the silent auction raised $13,729 and the raffles brought in $19,985. More funds were also raised through an ATV ride, wine and beer tasting, meat raffle, beer garden, and pizza and T-Shirt sales.
Since 2019, the Because of Brandon event has raised over $233,000 for the purpose going to scholarships for youth with Type 1 Diabetes and to also attend Camp Needlepoint, a week-long summer outdoor camp on the St. Croix in Hudson, Wisconsin.
