Mahnomen School Board Receives Findings of Facility Study, Approved E-Learning Plan, and Discussed Safe Learning Model at Monthly Board Meeting
Mahnomen, MN — The Mahnomen School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, August 9th. At the meeting, JLG architects was on hand to present their findings from their facility study of the Mahnomen School. The district hired the architectural firm this past spring to study the condition of the building and potential improvements that may need to be made as they move into modern learning models. In their report, Mahnomen Superintendent Jeff Bisek says it indicated that over the years the district has done overall excellent job in maintaining their facility, but some portions may need to be updated.
The district’s safe learning plan was also discussed at the week’s meeting. Superintendent Bisek says they’re going to maintain many of the same COVID mitigation plans as last year, but masks will only be encouraged.
The Mahnomen School Board also approved an E-learning plan on Monday night. Bisek says this will allow them to avoid making up days due to cancellation of school due to weather events.
School starts in less than a month and sports start up next week. To make both school and sports go smoother this year, Bisek is strongly encouraging student who are eligible to get the COVID vaccine.
The Mahnomen School Board also approved hiring Andrea Simon and English Teacher, Lisa Larson as a PRE-K instruction, and paraprofessional Madison Roy.
