ISD 361 votes for mask requirement-8/4/21
The ISD 361 School Board met for a special board meeting to discuss and possibly act on requiring all students, K-12, and staff without medical exemption to wear masks while in district buildings with the exception to lunch/snack time. Staff would be allowed to remove their mask when other people are not present in their assigned area.
School board member Ted Saxton spoke about what he heard in a Minnesota School Board Association webinar on Tuesday afternoon prior to the meeting.
After further discussion in which all school members provided their input and questions, the board voted 7-0 in favor of the motion to require K-12 students and staff to wear masks while in school buildings. According to Superintendent Kevin Grover, the decision will require discussion on whether indoor athletes will be required to wear masks while participating, what other schools that compete at the school will be required to do, and other items to be decided upon.
