Halstad, MN — Halstad Pirates and Norman County West Panther Alumni will be rolling into Halstad today for the kickoff to this weekend’s Pirate-Panther All School Reunion. Many of the events will take place at either the Halstad Legion Recreation Center, Halstad Lutheran Church or at the former Norman County West School. The former school will host a car show, memorabilia room, yard games, teacher gathering, teacher/student meet and greet, and a reunion program. The Halstad LRC will be host to back-to-back nights of dances both Friday and Saturday night. All School Reunion Committee Chair Beth Christianson-Melby notes that the dances, and many other events this weekend, are open to all community members and not just alumni.

This year’s All School Reunion could be a bit emotional and bittersweet for some, according to Christianson-Melby, as it follows the recent closure of the Norman County West School District.

The Pirate-Panther reunions are held every 5 years, typically on years that end in “0” or “5”. Even though they only happen twice a decade, Christianson-Melby says they are a lot of work and take a good group of volunteers to make it happen.

The reunion wraps up on Sunday with an all-faith’s service and farewell picnic at Halstad Lutheran Church.
