Aitkin County Board addresses Broadband, Bridge Priorities at July 13th meeting

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners gave approval for needed expansion for Broadband services and construction improvements during their regular meeting Tuesday from the Aitkin County Government Center Board Room.
The Commissioners did approve the AutoCAD License renewal for Surveying/GIS, a donation of $500 to the Aitkin County Search & Rescue Group from Glen Township, an LG230 Off-Site Gambling permit for the Isle Lions Club, a final contract payment to PCI Roads, LLC of St Michael for bridge rehabilitation, and signing of the County Board of Appeal Certification Form.
Facilities Coordinator Jim Bright presented to the Board a contract for needed repairs of the stairs outside the Judicial Center.
Approval of the contract with Architectural Resources, Inc will be given once the contracts have been signed. Economic Development Coordinator Mark Jeffers spoke to Commissioners on the Community Broadband Resources Accelerate Program while looking into applying for the NTIA Broadband Grant.
A public hearing for the NTIA Broadband Grant Application will be scheduled for August 10th at 10am during the regular County Board meeting. Jennifer Corcoran from the DNR spoke to Commissioners on the importance of LiDAR for Aitkin County.
County Engineer John Welle brought to the Board a resolution of setting the County’s Bridge Priority according to the MnDOT Office of State Aid.
That resolution was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
The Aitkin County Board is next scheduled to meet on Tuesday, July 27th at 9am in the Government Center Board Room.
