Hillsboro School Board Discusses Long-Term Planning
Hillsboro, ND — The Hillsboro School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday morning, July 13th where long-term planning was the main point of interest. With the new housing development getting underway and the potential for significant growth, the board has decided to work with ICON Architectural Group to study population trends, facility needs, and community interest in relation to possible expansion or the building of a new school facility, according to Hillsboro Superintendent Paula Suda.
ICON will also be conducting soil samples on possible future building sites. Superintendent Suda notes that as they move forward with this long-term planning process, she encourages community members to be involved and give feedback, be it positive or negative.
Also at this week’s meeting, the board approved repairs to one of the district’s mini buses. While the repairs were pricey, Suda says it’s still a more affordable option than purchasing a new one.
And with the return of school around a month and a half away, school staff has been busy cleaning and getting everything ready for the new year. Suda says she is excited to have kids in the building again.
The Hillsboro School Board held their annual reorganizational meeting as well. Tim Kozojed will remain President and Mary Mattson was appointed Vice President.
