DNR reminds Mille Lacs walleye anglers of June 1st, summer regulations

(Mille Lacs Lake) — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reminds walleye anglers on Mille Lacs Lake that the catch and release walleye season starts June 1st and to stay up to date on the fishing regulations.
The Catch and Release season runs from June 1st to Wednesday, June 30th. Following the two-week closure, which was implemented to reduce hooking mortality from Thursday, July 1st through Thursday, July 15th. During the closure, angling is allowed for all other species.
Catch and Release walleye fishing will resume on Friday, July 16th, and continue through Wednesday, September 15th. The limit of one walleye from 21-23 inches, or one over 28 inches, will resume Thursday, September 16th through Tuesday, November 30th.
Fishing hours on Mille Lacs Lake are 6am-10pm for all species. Starting Saturday, June 5th, muskellunge and northern pike anglers using artificial lures or sucker minnows longer than 8 inches can fish after 10pm. During the late season, beginning on September 16th, anglers will also be allowed to fish from 6am-midnight.
