Aitkin County Board approves Watershed Plans, Residential Development plat

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners held numerous discussions on updated Department plans from the Government Center Board Room Tuesday, May 25th.
Commissioners began with approval of the LG220 Application for Exempt Permit for Lawler Area Community Club, Application for Grant-in-Aid Funds for Snowmobile and Ski Trails, and Search & Rescue Donations from Idun and Seavey Townships.
Soil and Water Conservation District Manager Steve Hughes spoke before the Board for resolutions concerning the Upper Mississippi & Kettle River 1W1P.
The resolutions for To Support a Mississippi River – Brainerd Watershed, One Water One Plan and a to Support the Kettle River & Upper St. Croix Watershed, One Water One Plan were approved by the Board, as well as a culvert replacement and aggregate surfacing on 6.5 miles of CH 27 south of Lawler to R.C. Halbeck Excavating, LLC of Wahkon at a cost of $1.043 million.
Environmental Services Director Andrew Carlstrom presented to Commissioners the GAP Acres Acres Plat for the building of a residential development.
The Plat was approved by the Board and accepted a $5,000 application for CDBG-Coronavirus Funds for broadband development. Assistant Land Commissioner Dennis Thompson outlined the updated Second Generation Recreation Plan for Aitkin County.
The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners is next scheduled to meet on June 8th at 9am from the Government Center Board Room.
