(Aitkin, MN) — Two Aitkin High School Seniors officially signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their education and athletic careers Wednesday afternoon.
Multi-Sport Athletes Owen Miller and Jeremiah Smythe, in front of families, friends, and media signed to play football at Concordia College Moorhead after finishing the 2020 season with a 6-1 record and Section 7AAA Finalist title.
Miller, a two-year starter in all three phases, averaged for 130 yards per game and scored 12 touchdowns, noted that signing with the Cobbers opens another door to play with brother Quin.
Quin Miller, a 2019 graduate of Aitkin, is listed as a Sophomore Defensive Back for the Cobbers.
For Smythe, keeping up with education and comfort with his future coaches played into his decision.
Smythe was a stalwart for the Gobblers front 7 with an interception return touchdown this season.
The Concordia Cobbers Football Team of the MIAC, was initially postponed their 2020 season to the Spring of 2021 before opting out for a regular spring of practices and scrimmages.
Also absent from the Signing Day festivities was Camryn Leiviska, who will play softball at College of St. Scholastica.
