Aitkin County Board discusses Sentence to Serve, grant funding from May 11th meeting

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners held their first May meeting Tuesday from the Aitkin County Government Center Board Room to receive an update on the Sentence to Serve Program and review the County’s 1st Quarter Budget.
The Board approved an amended Memorandum of Understanding with Carlton County, the annual Brat Sale, and resolutions for the 2020 MN Federal Boating Safety Supplemental Equipment Grant, 2021 MN Federal Supplemental Boating Safety Patrol Grant, and an application for Exempt Permit for Wealthwood Rod & Gun Club.
Aitkin County Jail Program Coordinator Pat Scollard spoke to Commissioners on the Sentence to Serve Program and how COVID-19 has affected its purpose.
County Administrator Jessica Seibert spoke of setting a public hearing date for the Community Development Block Grant.
The public hearing was set for the next Board meeting on May 25th at 10am. Administrator Seibert also discussed the grant for the County in Fiscal Recovery Funds.
The Board did move to accept funds on behalf of the County.
The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners will next meet on Tuesday, May 25th at 9am from the Aitkin County Government Center Board Room.
