USDA Adding Incentives for CRP Program
Ada, MN — The USDA recently announced that they are again opening enrollment in the Conservation Reserve Program as well the Continuous CRP Program, according to Randy Tufton of the Norman County FSA. In order to gain interest from landowners, the USDA is now offering higher payment rates, new incentives, and a more targeted focus on the programs role in climate change mitigation. However, Tufton says they are still waiting on some of details of those new incentives.
There was also a new signup announced for the Soil Health and Income Protection Program, which Tufton says is a great program for anyone looking to put cover on their least productive soil.
Also on the subject of CRP, Tufton notes that now would be a good time to complete your Mid Contract Management requirement of either burning or mowing your CRP.
