(Deerwood, MN) — Deerwood Technologies, Incorporated proudly announced the recipients of their two annual $500 scholarships, one going to graduating seniors at Aitkin and Crosby-Ironton High Schools.
The presentation of the scholarships are awarded to Madilyn Bodle of Crosby-Ironton and Justine Johnson of Aitkin, both of which plan to attend higher education institutions.
To qualify for the scholarship, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better. Applicants are asked to submit an essay of 100 words or less and answer the question: “How can technology benefit disadvantaged individuals, societies, and countries?” Applicants also provided a list of their community involvement and volunteer activities.
Applicants are then vetted through an employee committee to select annual recipients.
Deerwood Technologies’ scholarships are 100-percent funded through events, including their recycling drives and other fundraisers, that are promoted, coordinated, and staffed by employees and their families. Scholarship payments will be issued to the institution of choice the student has successfully completed his or her first academic term.
