Marquart Comments on Local Impact of House Omnibus Bills

April 26, 2021 Kaleidoscope News -- KRJB-KRJM-KKCQ 0

St. Paul MN — It was busy week last week as the Minnesota House and Senate worked to pass all the different omnibus budget bills, including those in education, public safety, commerce, and tax bill. Overall, nearly a dozen different omnibus bills have been passed so far, which are quite lengthy and include many amendments that will be up for debate as they head into conference committee. During his weekly chat, Representative Paul Marquart provided an update on some of the items included in the bill that apply to us locally in District 4B.

Representative Marquart, who chairs the Tax Committee, says the omnibus tax bill that was passed on Thursday includes provisions such as Paycheck Protection Program conformity and funding for more business relief grants.

The House and Senate will soon begin meeting in conference committee to debate their versions of the bills. The end of the legislative session is less than a month away and is set to end on May 17th.
