Mahnomen City Council Approves Sale of Bonds for Mahnomen Fire Hall Renovation
Mahnomen, MN — The Mahnomen City Council held their 2nd regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 19th. It was an important meeting for the council as they approved a resolution to issue $1.6 million in general obligation capital improvement plan bonds, which essentially gives the green light for the $1.9 million Mahnomen Fire Hall renovation. Mahnomen City Administrator Mitch Berg says the project has been a long time coming and he’s excited to see it get started this summer.
The new Fire Hall will also have a kitchen and events space, which Berg says will help bring people back downtown. The city council also approved a purchase agreement for the adjoining Lindfors Insurance Agency, which will be included in the fire hall renovation. Construction is expected to get underway this summer.
More good news for the Mahnomen Fire Department at Monday’s meeting. The city council accepted an $88,000 donation from Enbridge for purchasing new fire equipment. Administrator Berg says this is just one example of how Enbridge has been an excellent community partner.
The Mahnomen City Council also approved a donation of $500 to the Mahnomen Softball Association.
