Twin Valley, MN — The Norman County East School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Monday night, March 15th. At the meeting the board approved a resolution that would terminate two positions at the end of the year. The positions, held by Bridget Sather and Melinda Anderson, were grant funded Career and Technical Education positions. Norman County East Superintendent Rob Nudell says their CTE offerings saw relatively low enrollment and were no longer financially feasible as the grant funding was no longer available.

Nudell added that moving forward they may still offer a few of the CTE classes, but would fill those offerings with current staff.

Also at the meeting, the school board gave their blessings for the school to offer a musical this spring, which they typically do in the fall.

And one year ago, Governor Walz first announced that all schools would begin distance learning as the pandemic began to spread across the state. Superintendent Nudell reflects on that moment and talks about the current situation in the district.

The Norman County East School Board also approved hiring Ty Nelson for the Phy Ed position and Shelby Shinabargar for the Spanish position and accepted the resignation of Volleyball Coach Kari Bergstrom.
