Olivia King sees first game action for Gopher Women’s Hockey
Olivia King, former Brainerd/Little Falls Warrior goaltender, plays for the University of Minnesota Women’s Hockey team. We catch up with her about her sophomore season and the excitement of having her first game action.
We first asked her to recap her sophomore season.
In the final regular season game at Bemidji State, King was inserted in for the third period where she was 4/4 on save opportunities. It was her first in-game action for the Golden Gophers, and tells us the playing time was not premeditated.
Her initial reaction to being told to enter the game was predictable.
King also described how it indeed felt different being on the ice during a game.
The former teammates from Brainerd/Little Falls she mentioned are Cheyenne Abear and Gabbie Smith.
The Golden Gophers finished the regular season 11-7-1 and will play in the WCHA tournament starting this Saturday vs. Wisconsin. King talks more about her experiences and excitement of the playoffs in our full conversation.
