(Grand Rapids, MN) — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is opening up public comments in the management of fisheries in the Grand Rapids area for selected lakes in Itasca County now through Wednesday, March 31st.
Management plans for fisheries are used by the DNR to identify specific activities planned for designated lakes over the next 5-20 years. These plans include background information such as water chemistry, characteristics, water temperature information, species presence, stocking, regulations, and historic catch rates from previous fisheries surveys.
Fisheries information will be updated for lakes including Bass near Effie, Big Too Much, Burns, Dock, Five Island, Guile, Gunderson, Long, O’Reily chain, Snaptail, and Thistledew.
Trout management evaluation is being reviewed for Larson and Moonshine lakes. Walleye stocking evaluation is also being reviewed for Little Turtle and Maple lakes.
