Norman County EDA Receives Roughly $700,000 in Small Business Assistance Grant Requests
Ada, MN — The Norman County EDA will meet tonight to discuss and award grant applications from their Small Business Assistance Grant Program. Norman County was given $250,000 from the state to provide grants to businesses who experienced economic hardships as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s executive orders. The economic impact of those executive orders appears to far exceed the amount of money given to Norman County from the state as it’s estimated that their EDA has received upwards of $700,000 in grant requests. Norman County Board Chair and EDA representative Lee Ann Hall says they won’t be able to fulfill the grant requests to the extent they would like, but they will prioritize those who have yet to apply for assistance in previous grant rounds and those directly impacted by the executive orders.
The Norman County EDA has previously awarded approximately $490,000 in small business grants through the Federal CARES Act.
